Shawn Flynn is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who obtained her Masters in Social Work from Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also holds a B.S. from the University of Minnesota where she majored in Family Social Science with a minor in Family Violence Prevention. Shawn specializes in treating adults with a history of trauma and/or abuse. She has worked extensively with victims of sexual assault, domestic violence and childhood trauma. Additionally, Shawn has significant experience and is passionate about working with clients managing addiction, depression, anxiety, grief and loss
Shawn has had a variety of professional opportunities that she draws upon in her therapeutic practice. Along with her work at Wellness Associates, Shawn works at Community Healing Center and facilitates an Intensive Outpatient Group for clients experiencing substance abuse and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In her individual practice she focuses on treating addiction through multi-theoretical methods that draw on evidence-based practices in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), Mindfulness, IPT (Interpersonal Psychotherapy) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy.
Shawn promotes and enhances client autonomy through a holistic and integrated approach. She encourages a collaborative, compassionate and supportive atmosphere to promote personal healing and growth. She is keen to recognize her clients’ strengths and works to enrich their overall life satisfaction and wellbeing. Danika’s passion is working with couples, helping those who are struggling in their relationships to find healthier and more satisfying ways of relating. Using a systems framework, she recognizes the impact that one struggling relationship can have on the entire family system. Her passion for helping couples is not only to bring peace and healing to the couple relationship but to the larger family unit as well. Common reasons for seeking relationship therapy include finances, parenting issues, frequent conflict, difficulty communicating, blended family issues, affairs, and addiction. Jamie Herring earned a Master of Arts in Counseling: Marriage & Family Therapy from Bethel College in 2006 and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has eight years of professional experience working with families, couples, and individuals toward desired goals and outcomes. Her areas of concentration include couples counseling, adolescents, family conflict, grief & bereavement.
Jamie values each member of the family and his or her unique contribution to family life. Her philosophy is influenced by Family Systems Theory, which focuses on communication and family or couple interactions that cause disturbance in family life. She also has extensive experience working with individuals of all ages who suffer from traumatic experiences; grief & loss; or discomfort from anxiety or depression.

Carol Ryan holds a Master of Science in Professional Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management. Her counseling experience includes twenty years of work in the areas of substance dependence and trauma as an inpatient and outpatient therapist. She earned an advanced certification in addictions counseling and has expertise in the medical management of opiate addiction via Suboxone and Naltrexone.
In addition to her experience with addictions, Carol works with families, and couples work is a recent addition to her practice. She uses the Gottman Method with couples to improve communication and strengthen commitment. She believes that therapy is a collaborative effort built on mutual respect and a positive client-therapist relationship. Her eclectic interventions use evidence-based practices in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), MET (Motivational Enhancement Therapy), Yoga and Mindfulness.
In addition to her traditional counseling practice, Carol has a unique position at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children helping adults with children injured by: human trafficking, sexual exploitation, online enticement, child pornography, cyber bullying, running away and addiction. She has supported over 7,500 households to date and continues her work there. Carol’s training includes the Amber Alert Warning System, Child Abduction Response, Internet Crimes Against Children, and Virtual Addictions.

In addition to her earlier practice, Pamela has served as an on-site therapist for elementary, middle, high school, and college populations. She has also presented in-service workshops for school corporations in the areas of parenting skills, selecting books for the multi-cultural classroom, identifying the signs of abuse in children, test anxiety, ADD/ADHD, PTSD, and stress management. An avid book lover, Pamela has presented at both Barnes and Noble and Borders Books, on books that build character and spiritual growth in children and adolescents and books for the multi-cultural classroom.

Susan takes a relational approach to therapy and strives to provide an environment that is emotionally supportive and where clients feel their unique concerns are recognized. She believes strongly in helping clients identify and build on their personal strengths as a resource for improving quality of life, self-confidence and personal balance. Susan is also trained in and incorporates cognitive-behavioral interventions to help clients move forward with practical changes.
In addition to her work as a counselor, Susan is on the faculty of the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies, University of Notre Dame where she teaches on issues of gender and cross-cultural trauma healing. Susan has conducted trainings on trauma healing in Northern Uganda and regularly consults with training programs in East Africa. She volunteers also in programs serving the mental health needs of refugees in the Northern Indiana area.
